CREAM is an incentive by Malaysia’s Ministry of Higher Education to encourage continued excellence in research and publications, and maintaining visibility in major databases, given to a selected number of academic journals in the country.
In addition to a certificate of recognition, the Universiti Putra Malaysia journal was awarded a sum of RM3,000 under the category “potential Cream journal” in the field of “Science, Technology and Medical”. The award was presented by Dato’ Seri Idris bin Jusoh, Minister of Higher Education, Malaysia, during the Malaysia’s Rising Star and Cream Award ceremony.
The selection of JTAS was based on the following criteria:
• Journal must be indexed in the ISI or SCOPUS bibliographic database.
• Journal must have a consistent and continuous publication schedule.
• Journal must have a clear scope.
• Journal must have an official and informative webpage.
Earlier, last year, on September 3, 2015 the Pertanika Journal of Social Sciences & Humanities (JSSH) was granted the prestigious “CREAM”.
“Since this is the second government award, it is an important recognition for us,” says Dr Nayan Kanwal, Chief Executive Editor of the Pertanika journals. “As a result, I hope to see more good quality, innovative research papers from Malaysia as well as beyond. This should also lead to more citations for Pertanika and eventually a higher impact factor for the journal creating impact in scholarly publications.”
