How to Tackle Asia’s Healthcare Sustainability Challenges: Government and Private Sector Explore Initiatives at 2017 Financial Times Summit

FT Asia Healthcare & Life Sciences Summit 2017

SINGAPORE, 30 MARCH 2017: On 25 April 2017, the Financial Times will host the third annual FT
Asia Healthcare & Life Sciences Summit at The Westin Singapore. The theme this year is Shaping the
future of healthcare, with the Summit bringing together government leaders, industry experts and
senior business executives from across the region to discuss how initiatives taken today can
improve Asia’s healthcare landscape tomorrow.

This prestigious event will address some of Asia’s formidable healthcare challenges, including the
surge in age-related healthcare demands and non-communicable diseases – especially diabetes, which
are putting additional strain on healthcare systems already struggling to cope. The summit will explore
how governments can open the door to private investment while balancing a responsibility to
provide basic access to healthcare, and how global and local healthcare companies in turn can benefit
from, and improve, the healthcare landscape.

Thought leaders will provide insights into how healthcare can be made sustainable, and respond to
critical problems that the industry faces. Technological disruptions and innovations in healthcare will be
addressed by Bruce Liang, CEO, Integrated Health Information Systems and CIO, Ministry of
Health, Singapore, along with other digital health experts. Herve Gisserot, Head of Pharmaceuticals
Asia-Pacific, GlaxoSmithKline, will elaborate on the business of healthcare, while Roy Quek,
Executive Chairman, Thomson Medical Group, will present his viewpoint on medical tourism. Zee
Yoong Kang, CEO, Health Promotion Board, Singapore, will talk about patient-centred
healthcare. Other speakers include Patrick Tan Boon Ooi, Deputy Executive Director, Biomedical
Research Council, Agency for Science, Technology and Research; Isabel Torres, Global Lead
for Access to Medicines, Takeda Pharmaceuticals; and Allen Lai, Regional Managing Director, ACT
Genomics Singapore.

This summit is presented by the Financial Times with the support of Deloitte.
