“Child Abuse and Protection of Child Rights” competition winners

Caucasus Media Investigations Center has announced the winners of the competition on the subject “Child Abuse and Protection of Child Rights” within the project of “Development of Media Investigations in Caucasus” which is held by the support of Open Society Institute Assistance Foundation.

35 articles submitted to this competition, which were published in Azerbaijani and Georgian newspapers. According to the evaluation of five judges, journalist Eka Gulia from Georgian Rezonans newspaper shared the first place (for her article, “Child’s rights are abused in Georgia”) with Khalid Vahidoghlu from Azerbaijani Uch Nogta newspaper (for his article “Street childreen”). The total score of the both winners was the same.

Three journalists took the second place: “Yeni Musavat ” newspaper journalists Sebuhi Memmedli for his “If we knew…” article and Elshad Pashasoy for his “What’s children’s fault?” article and another Azerbaijani “Azadliq” newspaper journalist Roya Qurban for her “From where starts child rights?” article.

Winners of the competition were rewarded with money prize and certificates. Besides these awards, CMIC has also awarded several more journalists for interesting research articles.

CMIC also announced another competition on “The role of Media in fighting against corruption and bribery”. Deadline for the second competition is January 15.

CMIC encourages Azerbaijani and Georgian Journalists to take part in competition actively.
