Proposals are sought to identify a child health and nutrition intervention of known effectiveness, which is already being implemented in a large-scale pilot or at regional or national levels, and then to evaluate the impact of a specific and defined delivery strategy on intervention coverage.
The intent is to determine factors that promote or retard effective intervention coverage at scale. An additional focus is on delivery process documentation and analysis to assist further scale-up and implementation. It is anticipated that the proposed evaluation will improve our understanding of factors leading to successful or unsuccessful implementation and document the real lessons learned at the country level.
The proposed intervention should be an established package that measurably affects under-5 child mortality and the major causes of death, and applicants must define coverage indicators carefully. The focus can be on neonatal or post neonatal interventions depending on the local epidemiological profile.
