President Anzai participates in WEF Annual Meeting 2009

Keio University's President Anzai participated for his third time in the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting attended by world leaders in Davos.

This year he was invited for the first time to be a panelist in the official program event held on January 29 “Innovation: The View from Asia” together with other Asian representatives including those from China, Korea and India. As part of this session, panelists exchanged views on a range of topics including innovation in Asia, as well as the role of Japanese universities in innovation in Japan. The following day, President Anzai joined in lively discussions with other leading members from top universities from around the world in the Global University Leaders Forum. On January 31, President Anzai was invited to attend a lunch with Japan’s Prime Minister Taro Aso following the Prime Minister’s special address at the forum. This event was hosted by Professor Klaus Schwab, the founder of WEF, and moderated by Carlos Ghosn.

On January 28, Keio University and the University of Tokyo jointly held the “The Todai-Keio Reception,” providing a forum for leaders from politics, industry and education, together with leaders from around the world to actively exchange ideas.

Participants in the official programs from Keio University included Professor Jun Murai, Vice-President for Research, Academic-Industry Collaboration, Information Technology; Professor Heizo Takenaka, Director of the Global Security Research Institute; Professor Adrian Cheok, Graduate School of Media Design; and Professor Takeshi Natsuno, Graduate School of Media and Governance.
