The First General Assembly of the Keio Federation of Mita-Kai (Alumni Association) in South East Asia

On November 28, 2009, the First General Assembly of the Keio Federation of Mita-Kai (Alumni Association) in South East Asia that each Mita-Kai in Jakarta, Kuala Lumpur, Manila, Singapore, Saigon, Hanoi and Bangkok participated all together, was held at Dusit Thani Hotel in Bangkok with 207 participants.

The assembly started with the opening address by Mr. Ono, President of the Keio Federation of Mita-Kai (Alumni Association) in South East Asia. Following that, Dr. Tarisa Watanagase, Governor of Bank of Thailand and Honorary Chairperson of Bangkok Mita-Kai, delivered a welcome speech and spoke about current financial situation in Thailand. As a representative of Keio University, Vice President Makabe gave a congratulatory speech and reported on current situation of the school. Also, Mr. Kanoh, a representative of the Keio Federation of Mita-Kai (Alumni Association), made a complimentary address. Earlier, Mr. Suzuki, a representative of Keio Federation of Mita-Kai in South East Asia introduced congratulatory telegrams from Mr. Hattori, Chairperson of the Keio Federation of Mita-Kai and Mr. Nishioka, Chairperson of Alumni Association of Keio Athletic League.

All the speakers mentioned that it is both timely and to the point to establish the third worldwide Keio Federation of Mita-Kai following the ones in the United States and Europe as Keio’s global activity along with the economic development in South East Asia. After the remarks by guests, Mr. Makabe, Mr. Kanoh, Dr. Watanagase and chairpersons of Mita-Kai in six countries and seven regions in South East Asia lined up together on the stage for a toast wishing the development of the Keio Federation of Mita-Kai in South East Asia. All the participants enjoyed the dinner party with Classical Thai Dance.
