New Year’s Greetings from the President

A Happy New Year to you all. I wish you the best of health and happiness for 2010.

This year marks the 175th anniversary of the birth of Yukichi Fukuzawa, Keio University founder. As such, this year we return our thoughts to Fukuzawa who was born in the Edo period, and led Japan through the period of upheaval, from the end of Shogunate through the Meiji Restoration.

In keeping with Fukuzawa’s spirit, Keio will continue in its mission to advance knowledge and in doing so, nurture students who are able to think for themselves, and make a social contribution across many areas including medicine.

Keio University has always been supported in its endeavors by its students, faculty, staff, alumni and the wider university community. We hope to have your continuing support in the year ahead.
