Andy Knight wins Trailblazer award
IDRC Governor Andy Knight has been awarded the Black Business and Professional Association of Canada (BBPA) 2010 Harry Jerome Trailblazer award.
Dr Knight, who chairs the political science department at the University of Alberta, is the seventh person to receive the Trailblazer award.
The BBPA Harry Jerome awards were created in 1983 in honour of Canadian track and field athlete, Harry Jerome. Each year BBPA honours excellence in African-Canadian achievement.
Andy Knight joined IDRC’s Board of Governors in 2007. He also serves on a number of boards that work to advance education and research of human rights, peace, and security issues.
Denis Desautels appointed Chair of Accounting Council
The Accounting Standards Oversight Council (AcSOC) has appointed IDRC Governor Denis Desautels as Chair, effective April 1, 2010.
Mr Desautels, a former Auditor General of Canada, has wide experience in public sector auditing and accounting. He has been a member of AcSOC since 2000, serving as its Vice-Chair since April 2005.
AcSOC serves the public interest by overseeing and providing input on the activities of the Accounting Standards Board and the Public Sector Accounting Board.
Denis Desautels joined IDRC’s Board of Governors in 2006 and is now serving his second term, which will expire in 2014. He was elected Vice-Chair of the IDRC Board in 2008.
