Keio University and NTT sign a comprehensive collaboration agreement

Each organization's resources (including technology, human resources and facilities) will be utilized in the area of information and communications, with a focus on fields such as broadband communications, ubiquitous computing and IP networking.

Keio University (President: Yuichiro Anzai, hereinafter "Keio University") and Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corporation (President and CEO: Norio Wada, hereinafter "NTT") have agreed to build a new reciprocal relationship based upon collaboration at an organizational level. Each organization's resources (including technology, human resources and facilities) will be utilized in the area of information and communications, with a focus on fields such as broadband communications, ubiquitous computing and IP networking.

Until now, Keio University and NTT have developed their collaborative activities with a focus on joint research, joint experiments and interaction between researchers. Many of these activities were planned and developed separately as a result of individual ties between researchers in each organization. This made it difficult to create new collaborative partnerships and interdisciplinary collaborations covering multiple fields. This time, the creation of central point of contact for collaborative activities and the establishment of a new Collaborative Conference, including representatives from both organizations, will make it possible to respond to issues on an organization-to-organization basis. This agreement was created in order to maintain and develop the existing friendly relationship between the two organizations, strengthen research activities, including projects for creative research, and nurture human resources with advanced research and development skills.

Future plans include joint research in the field of information and communications as well as human resource development through internships and other activities.
