Both universities agreed to establish institutional links to develop academic cooperation and promote mutual understanding through academic activities such as exchange of faculty, students, researches and other research and administrative staff; collaborative research projects; lectures and symposia; exchange of academic information and materials; and other forms of academic cooperation.
Along with the MOA signing, the University of Seoul’s Department of Geoinformatics also signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with UPD’s Department of Geodetic Engineering which aims “to establish a framework for student exchange program which will support the promotion of all-round development of students, particularly in the areas of global outlook and cultural appreciation.”
The MOU includes the agreement on the number of exchange students, selection of students, credit transfer, financial arrangements, accommodation, immigration formalities, insurance requirement, students’ obligations and entitlements, arrival arrangements, period of agreement and program administration.
Witnesses to the MOA and MOU signing were Dr. Seok Woo kim, University of Seoul’s Vice President for International Affairs; Dr. Ronald S. Banzon, UPD’s Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs; and Dr. Ariel S. Blanco, UPD’s Department of Geodetic Engineering chairman.
Also present were Serktae Nho, chief secretary of the University of Seoul president; Jihye Kim, International Program coordinator; contingent from UPD including Dr. Cristine DLR. Villagonzalo, OEC director; CoE’s Dr. Rhodora Gonzalez, associate dean for Institutional Linkages; Dr. Menandro Berana, associate dean for Instruction and Research; Assistant Professor Czar Jakiri Sarmiento and Julius Bangate, University Extension Associate; and Belle Nabor, University Researcher II of OEC.
Both MOA and MOU are valid for a period of five years.
