3 to 6-month paid internships available May 2012 onwards. Positions available: Research Communicator AND Advertising/Marketing Coordinator

Research Communicator

The successful candidate will be involved in:

1 Editing and writing press releases.
2 Monitoring news coverage and creating reports for clients.
3 Contacting and maintaining relationships with journalists and client research institutions across the world.
4 Editing and writing news articles and assisting with the production of Asia Research News magazine and accompanying website.
5 Marketing and promoting the business to potential new clients.
6 Assisting with all other activities related to the business.


Advertising/Marketing coordinator

The successful candidate will be involved in:

1 Promoting ResearchSEA and its services internationally.
2 Building and maintaining relationships with our clients.
3 Coordinating advertising placement and sales.
4 Developing marketing plans based on clients’ needs (you will be able to research, analyse findings and interpret trends).
5 Writing creative material for our online and print magazine, brochures and fliers.
6 Keeping abreast of the latest developments in the media to ensure ResearchSEA stays ahead in a rapidly changing and expanding environment.
7 Contribute to general tasks such as updating client databases and our websites.
8 Assisting with all other activities related to the business.

Skills required for both roles:

You must be able to work independently, be computer literate and comfortable using the internet, social media and entirely familiar with document, spreadsheet and presentation software (Word, Excel, Powerpoint or similar). Good communication skills especially on the phone and in email are also vital.

We are looking for someone who is creative and organised. You should be capable of working with tight deadlines, have an ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and prioritise them accordingly. You should have excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Successful candidates will also be dealing with clients and journalists from many countries and cultures, therefore cultural awareness of business and people in Asia will be a bonus.

For the Research communicator role previous scientific/research writing and editing experience is preferred. An interest in science and research is a must.

For the Advertising/marketing coordinator role, a background in business, marketing or public relations will be helpful.

The successful candidate will be working with top research institutions in Asia, gain valuable experience in research communication and business development of a small but fast growing international business.

Salary: National minimum wage
Starting date: May 2012 onwards
Location: Cambridge
