“Inclusive innovation” and “inclusive development” are the new buzzwords in the political and development arenas. As the United Nations, key donor agencies and governments promote more inclusive and sustainable development, current discussions and initiatives are looking into new technologies and ways of doing things that take into account not just strategic but also interdisciplinary innovation to address social needs, especially of the poor and the disadvantaged. This movement puts the spotlight on multi-sectoral and multi-level decision-making and action to solve specific social problems.
The Universities and Councils Network on Innovation for Inclusive Development in Southeast Asia OR UNIID-SEA (www.uniid-sea.net), supported by Canada’s International Development Research Centre (IDRC), is launching the “IID FELLOWS PROGRAM”, a new research program that aims to champion IID advocates in the region, by incentivizing them to share their existing courses and modules that demonstrate inclusive innovation.
Under this research program, UNIID-SEA will be targeting applicants from the ten ASEAN Member States: Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam. Selected IID Fellows from the participating countries will be awarded small grants ranging from US$1,500 to US$2,500.
There will be two windows of application for the IID Fellows Program:
Window 1 ends May 31, 2014. Applications will be processed and a number of Fellows will be announced in June.
Window 2 ends June 30, 2014. All applications, including those who were not selected in the first round, will be processed. The complete lineup of Fellows will be announced in July.
All program inquiries should be addressed to the UNIID-SEA Project Secretariat. Please send an email to [email protected] or call our project personnel at the Ateneo School of Government via telephone numbers +63 2 426 6001 local 4639 (trunkline) or +63 2 929 7035 (telefax).
