IDRC research will be showcased at the Canadian Conference on Global Health 2015, November 5-7 in Montréal, Québec. This year's theme is Capacity Building on Global Health: Research and Practice. IDRC is supporting the attendance of several established and emerging health leaders from developing countries at the event.
The 22nd Canadian Conference on Global Health provides a forum for practitioners, researchers, educators, students, policymakers, and community mobilizers interested in primary health care to share their knowledge and experience and promote innovation and collaborative action. The 2015 edition is hosted by the Canadian Society for International Health held in partnership with the Global Health Research Capacity Training Program.
Among the events that IDRC is sponsoring during the conference are:
- the launch of the BioMed Central Special Supplement, Exemption of Health Service Fees in West Africa;
- a panel, Supporting people and institutions to strengthen health systems: Insights from IDRC-supported researchers, with Caroline Kabiru, Walter Flores, Issiaka Sombie, Thelma Narayan, Jill Olivier, facilitated by Sharmila Mhatre who leads IDRC's Maternal and Child Health program;
- a symposium, Strengthening health policy systems research capacity in West Africa: Lessons and experiences from a collaborative sub-regional effort; and
- a symposium, Urbanization and ground realities in Bangladesh: Mobilizing the urban poor for equity in health
