Universiti Teknologi Mara's Award Winning Research and Inventions

In the last quarter of 2006, Universiti Teknologi Mara took part in exhibition in Brussels, Nuremberg, London and Seoul and won numerous award. These award winning research projects are listed here.

Their research projects won 5 Golds and 5 Silvers in Brussels, 4 Gold and 5 Bronzes in Nuremberg, 2 Double Golds, 2 Golds, 4 Silvers and 2 Bronzes in London and 3 Golds, 1 Silver and 7 Bronzes in Seoul.

The following are summaries of the award winning research projects at the respective exhibitions.

BRITISH INVENTION SHOW, LONDON 2006

Universiti Teknologi MARA exhibited 10 research products at British Invention Show (BIS) at the Alexandra Palace, London. This exhibiton was held from 18-21 October 2006. British Invention Show is the UK’s largest Innovation & Technology Show. UiTM won 10 awards in total namely two double gold medals, two gold medals , four silver medals and two bronze medals. Our Double Gold Award winner En. Shariff Che Ibrahim with his product Banana Peel Diet Flakes received live coverage from Channel 24 BBC. The following is the list of winners:

'THE INTERNATIONAL TRADE FAIR (IENA)', NUREMBERG, GERMANY (2 - 5 NOVEMBER 2006)

IENA also saw 680 inventions being showcased by inventors and researchers from 32 countries which among others include Russia, Hong Kong, South Korea, Croatia, Iran and USA. UiTM participated with 10 research products. Of these, four won gold medals, while five were awarded bronze medals. UiTM is also proud of the achievement of its Maintenance Department. The department’s research product titled ‘Air Conditioning Condenser Coil Cleaner’ won one of the gold medals. This is the first time that a research product by the non-academic staff participated at an international level invention competition.

BRUSSELS- EUREKA: 55th WORLD EXHIBITION OF INVENTION, RESEARCH AND NEW TECHNOLOGIES

The World Exhibition of Innovation, Research and New Technologies Brussels- Innova & Eureka held in Brussels Expo, Belgium during 23 -27 of November 2006. The exhibition showcases more than 300 inventions by inventors and researchers from 32 countries which among others include USA, Taiwan, Romania, Croatia, and Belgium. 10 UiTM scientists have been honored with 5 golds and 5 silvers for their outstanding products research. One of UiTM’s products entitled ‘Non-destructive Microwave Technique for Characterization of Transdermal Patch’ from Faculty Pharmacy received two special awards, namely from European (Golden Brands of Europe) and from Belgium (Le Minister Federal DELA Fonction Publique et de L’ Integration Sociale).

SEOUL INTERNATIONAL INVENTION FAIR (SIIF) 2006

2006 marks the second time Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) has participated in the Seoul International Invention Fair (SIIF). The exhibition was held for five days from the 7th until the 11th of December 2006 at Seoul, Korea and the largest Bi-Annual Invention Fair in Asia. UiTM exhibited 11 research products/inventions and triumphantly won 3 gold medals, 1 silver medal and 7 bronze medals. The winning research projects are as follows:
