Imagine a super search engine that trawls millions of websites to put together disparate pieces of information and forms a coherent picture of terrorists, their organisations and activities.
This sophisticated, NTU-developed software that automates and speeds up the process of gathering and analysing terrorism data from the Internet received an international accolade recently - the best paper award at the 3rd IEEE International Conference on Intelligence and Security Informatics in the US.
The program, developed by NTU's terrorism informatics research group, cuts down research time and is an intelligent system that can,over time, learn to extract more terrorist-related patterns and nuances from websites.
