Worm monitor is a 24/7 monitoring application that monitors and pinpoints sources of worms in a LAN

The Invention
Current protection approaches for worms commercially available are IDS/IPS/Firewall and Antivirus. There is a loophole in such protection whereas is a worm manages to get into the local network, users in the network that have a patched and antivirus protected machines will still experience worm attack from infected machines. Detection of these machines cannot be done in currently available security products.

This product covers the loophole. It is aimed at users with minimal network troubleshooting knowledge. When a worm is detected in the network, an alarm with suggested solution is presented to the user. It does not require new network hardware. A pc with a network card running windows XP is sufficient.

Features
-Easy to install. Non dependent on specific hardware
-Easy to use. Install and forget like your antivirus. It monitors in the background. You will only notice it if a worm is in your network.
- Works passively, no additional traffic is added to the network
-Updates definitions automatically. Boasts a database of all currently known Email, IM, Web, Internet, P2P and IRC worms.
-Warns users locally by synthesized voice warnings and visual messages
-Plug in allows warning remotely by email or SMS
-Logging facilities

Benefits
Online worm monitor covers loopholes left by other security products for an all round protection. It is easy to use and set up. Users do not require advance network knowledge to use.
