Campylobacter jejuni is one of the major causes of diarrhoea in human and animals especially in developed countries. Current diagnosis of the disease is via culture and PCR method. The culture method is time consuming, laborious, low in sensitivity and being replaced by PCR based tests, which is faster and more reliable. The main limitation of PCR based tests is its reagents have to be transported by cold storage and no assays were found to be 100% sensitive and specific for all C.jejuni strains tested. Furthermore, multiple pipeting and repeated freeze thawing of PCR reacgents can give erroneous results.

Unlike the conventional PCR based tests, EZ Campy DNA kit was designed and developed to contain thermo-stabilized PCR reagents in a single tube to detect for Campylobacter jejuni respectively within 3 hours. The test can be performed by simple addition of DNA template sample and distilled water and can be transported without the need for cold chain. The test in a retrospective study showed 100% sensitivity and specificity for the detection of Campylobacter jejuni.

EZ Campy DNA kit Advantages
- requires no cold chain
- simple to perform
- rapid (within 3 hours)
- has built-in control and gel loading dye which facilitates the loading of the PCR products directly onto the agarose gel without the addition of sample loading buffer,
- Results are east to interpret, and postitive controls are included for proper comparison and identification of amplified DNA (202bp)
-Reduces error-minimal pipetting steps thus reduces carry-over contamination
