UPM Receives RM 428K Grant From National Entrepreneurship Institute (INSKEN)

Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) through its Extension, Entrepreneurship, and Professional Development Centre (APEEC) was appointed as coordinator of researches to be performed on institution of higher education graduates’ participation in entrepreneur-based careers

PUTRAJAYA, July 29 – Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) through its Extension, Entrepreneurship, and Professional Development Centre (APEEC) was appointed as coordinator of researches to be performed on institution of higher education graduates’ participation in entrepreneur-based careers.

UPM is made recipient of the research grant from National Entrepreneurship Institute (INSKEN) and the Ministry of Entrepreneur and Co-operative Development (MeCD) at the Exhibition Hall, MeCD on July 28.

Ministry of Entrepreneur and Co-operative Development Deputy Chief Secretary, Alwi Ibrahim handed over the grant’s cheque totaled RM 428, 500 to UPM Vice Chancellor, Prof. Datuk Dr. Nik Mustapha R. Abdullah for entrepreneurship research purposes.

Alwi said UPM APEEC will launch smart-partnerships with INSKEN in assembling research experts to carry out researches on university graduates’ participation in entrepreneur-based career paths.

“16 experts from public and private institutions of higher education along with two consultants have been chosen to perform 24 researches in tackling problems related to graduates’ participation in entrepreneur-based careers and to make entrepreneurship as a first choice career,” he said.

Alwi also hopes that these action-oriented researches will be of use to the Ministry as well as to entrepreneurship development agencies in the country.

Meanwhile, Dr. Nik Mustapha said every researcher working on entrepreneur-based research based on their expertise will be given an allocation of RM 17, 500 each.

“APEEC will continue to form collaborative ties with entrepreneur developmental agencies including MeCD so it can act as a mechanism to empower the delivery system for the people and the country’s development,” he said.

Dr. Nik Mustapha said UPM has also formed the Industry and Community Relations Division to channel knowledge, skills, expertise and to enhance ties between the campus denizens with outside entrepreneurs in efforts of producing entrepreneurs among graduates.
