UPM To Advance Maths Collaboration With Vietnam

SERDANG, Malaysia 10 Jan – Mathematical Research Institute (INSPEM) Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) has established collaboration on mathematical research with Institute of Mathematics, Vietnamese Academy of Science and Technology (IM-VAST).

SERDANG, Malaysia 10 Jan – Mathematical Research Institute (INSPEM) Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) has established collaboration on mathematical research with Institute of Mathematics, Vietnamese Academy of Science and Technology (IM-VAST).

The agreement will seize the opportunity to access the research facilities and to improve research conducts between two parties. It also covers research consultation service, journals exchange and arrangement of conference.

IM-VAST Director, Prof. Dr. Ngo Viet Trung informed the media that with a strong line-up of research experts in Mathematics, IM-VAST has successfully produced journals that are of uncompromised quality such as Acta Matematica Vietnamica and Vietnam Journal Mathematics.

UPM Vice Chancellor, Prof. Datuk Dr. Nik Mustapha R. Abdullah mentioned that the collaboration will comprise the exchange of academic properties, researchers, administrators and staffs, post graduates as well as the exchange of research collaboration to further strengthen our ties.

To date, IM-VAST research excellence has gained international recognition which placed them among the 12 Institute of Excellence of the Third World Academy of Science.

“The establishment of this MoU signified the first step taken by INSPEM in pursuit of establishing agreement with other research institutes which are relevant to mathematical research particularly in Vietnam,” he said during the MoU signing ceremony held in UPM recently.

The memorandum was signed by Prof. Datuk Dr. Nik Mustapha R. Abdullah representing UPM and Prof. Dr. Ngo Viet Trung, Director from IM-VAST as witnessed by Director of INSPEM UPM, Prof. Dato’ Dr. Kamel Ariffin Mohd Atan and Deputy Director of IM-VAST, Prof. Dr. Le Tuan Hoa.

Apart from working on primary tasks such as conducting research, IM-VAST is also involved in organizing research collaboration with other institutes in Vietnam and from abroad.
