A research team led by Dr. Hideki Abe, Principal Researcher of the Environmental Remediation Materials Unit in National Institute for Materials Science (President: Sukekatsu Ushioda), has developed a new material which enables long-term immobilization of cesium in a highly concentrated form. This material is expected to contribute to the technology for treating radioactive cesium isotopes.
