Flores is a professor at the Department of Speech Communication and Theater Arts of the College of Arts and Letters while Verzola is a faculty member of the Institute of Mathematics of the College of Science.
Edited by Jo-Ann Maglipon, Yes! Magazine’s editor-in-chief, the book is a compilation of stories on Martial Law written by 14 authors who were student activists and members of the College Editors Guild of the Philippines (CEGP) during the Marcos regime. They recounted stories of detention, torture, fears and survival on the tumultuous events that transpired during Martial Law.
Among the authors are Jaime Flor Cruz (CNN Beijing Bureau Chief), Diwa Guinigundo (BSP Deputy Governor), Manuel Dayrit (former Department of Health secretary); Jose Dalisay Jr., Al Mendoza and Soledad Juvida (Carlos Memorial Palanca awardees); Jay Valencia-Glorioso (Repertory Philippines stage actress, opera singer and recent Aliw Awardee), Calixto Chikiamco (economist, columnist and book author); Verzola (pro-farmers advocate); Vic Manarang, Angie Tocong Castillo and Vic Wenceslao (entrepreneurs); Edd Aragon (artist/cartoonist); and Jack Teotico (publisher of Contemporary Arts Philippines).
