UStart Global @ GEC Labs 2017

Designing the Future

Universities and institutions of higher learning (IHL) generate a considerable number of technology and intellectual property rights (IPRs). A wide range of technology ranging from agricultural products to engineering, construction, ICT and medical sciences with high potential. Most of them exist as laboratory prototypes, not readily applied and has low aesthetic values, unsuitable materials, prototype not ready for mass production – all of these factors either alone or in combination prevent the commercialisation and rolling out of these technologies to benefit global society. Developing a prototyping and manufacturing the ecosystem in Malaysia via strong linkage with Japanese partners, producing technologies from Malaysia to the world. Programmes will focus on primary technology domains where Malaysian universities have the strength and in need of prototyping assistance, including but not limited to engineering, green technology & renewables, medical devices, IoT & wearables. In this year programme (USTART Global), we will broaden our University Startup network from ASEAN to global perspectives.
