8th Commonwealth Congress on Diarrhoea and Malnutrition (CAPGAN 2006)

The 2006 Commonwealth Congress on Diarrhoea and Malnutrition will be held at ICDDR,B: Centre for Health and Population Research, Dhaka, Bangladesh, 6-8 February 2006.

After the previous successful Commonwealth Congresses held in London, New Delhi, Hong Kong , Karachi, Darwin, and the Drakensberg Mountains in South Africa, we are pleased to announce, and invite you to, the 2006 Commonwealth Congress on Diarrhoea and Malnutrition to be held at ICDDR,B: Centre for Health and Population Research, Dhaka, Bangladesh.

CAPGAN is a unique paediatric organization that links the scientific medical issues of paediatric gastroenterology and nutrition with a strong advocacy role in the fundamental social and developmental aspects of childhood diarrhoea and malnutrition in developing countries. ICDDR,B is a world leader in public-health interventions and child health and nutrition research.

The theme of the Congress is "Combating Malnutrition and Intestinal Diseases in Children: Are We Doing Enough?"

The programme will be varied and stimulating, locally relevant, and yet of broad interest to all participants. Fields to be covered include basic and new science in paediatric gastroenterology and nutrition, social and cultural perspectives in infant feeding and care, and topics on child advocacy and ethics. There will be up-to-date keynote addresses, symposia, and debates covering recent scientific advances and programmatic considerations relevant to developing countries.
