Animal Models of Human Development and Disease Workshop 2007

The workshop will bring together leading investigators from industry, universities, as well as research institutes in Southeast Asia to present and discuss the use of various animal models including Drosophila, zebrafish, chick and mouse in their research.

The British High Commission and Institute of Molecular and Cell Biology, supported by Medical Research Council (UK) will be hosting the UK-Singapore Animal Models of Human Development and Disease Workshop to foster exchanges and establish interactions between researchers from both countries. The workshop will bring together leading investigators from industry, universities, as well as research institutes in Southeast Asia to present and discuss the use of various animal models including Drosophila, zebrafish, chick and mouse in their research. Each session will link fundamental studies of embryonic development to the analysis of disease related mechanisms, illustrating the sophisticated techniques that are now available in a variety of organisms for probing normal and pathological processes. It aims to encourage dialogue across both continents and phyla in the quest for a deeper understanding of human development and disease.

The workshop will be held over 3 days on 12 to 14th February 2007 at the Biopolis, and speakers includes senior researchers from the UK and Singapore. It will be chaired by Professor Philip Ingham.
