MTE2020 - Launching of Social Innovation Asia Awards
The annual Malaysia Technology Expo returns on the 20-22 February 2020 and invites international inventors, start-ups, tech companies, designers and entrepreneurs to showcase, exhibit, and promote their latest inventions, ideas, prototypes, products and designs to investors, manufacturers, distributors and marketers, to propel their ideas from a concept to reality, and from lab to market.
MTE’s objective is to establish a scientific and progressive society, a society that is innovative and forward-looking, and one that is not only a consumer of technology but also a contributor to the scientific and technological civilisation of the future. As businesses are becoming borderless, MTE also seeks to encourage local inventors, start-ups, tech companies, designers and entrepreneurs to enhance their capabilities with international collaboration.
MTE is firmly established on the international invention and innovation shows circuit, for all those who thrive on the business of inventions and innovations, a proven platform for innovators and breakthrough technologies for the past 18 years.
One of the advantages of showcasing at MTE is that their ideas receive industry wide recognition at the event’s prestigious awards programme. Covering all age groups and categories of inventions, the innovation awards at MTE will be judged by an independent jury comprising of scientists and industry representatives, paving the way to more market opportunities. Previous winners at MTE have gone on to win international invention events, successfully signed contracts with manufacturers, distributors and business partners.

MTE 2019 attracted over 427 exhibits from 18 countries with 566 award entries. The event also welcomed 9,270 local and international visitors from 34 countries. Looking forward, MTE 2020 promises to be an even more exciting event for the science and technology community, and is expected to draw 10,000 visitors and 600 exhibits.

INVENTION AND INNOVATION AWARDS
The Invention & Innovation Awards is one that attracts participants from Asia and beyond. In 2019, the awards attracted 258 entries as well as presented 85 Gold Awards, 75 Silver Awards and 69 Bronze Awards. These awards also recognize outstanding participants through its 16 Special Awards and 16 Foreign Awards.
PUBLIC SERVICE INNOVATION AWARDS
The Public Service Innovation Awards is created to recognise the innovations that has been designed, developed or implemented within the public service and provide a platform to share and showcase innovative approaches and solutions across the public sectors; encouraging others to adopt innovations in public administrations in Malaysia.
ASIAN YOUTH INNOVATION AWARDS
Now in its 7th year, the Asian Youth Innovation Awards will continue to provide a platform for youths to exhibit and share their work with the public, providing them essential first-hand experience of participating in the “real world”, boosting their life skills – such as communication, critical thinking, and tenacity that will equip students to thrive in the classroom and when they enter the workplace.
SOCIAL INNOVATION ASIA AWARDS
We believe that everyone can take the first step to think an innovative solution to improve the city they live in. Whether they are an NGO, governmental agency or private sector, if they have successfully implemented an idea that tackles a pressing social issue related to their country then we invite their participation in our inaugural MTE’s Social Innovation Asia Awards 2020 that not only acknowledges but celebrates their efforts in enhancing their country's socio-economic situation.
