International Conference on an Inter-faith Perspective on Globalisation for the Common Good

Istanbul, Turkey - Given the need to address issues of violence, war and peace, human rights, and social justice, there are many questions we must ask ourselves, many debates in which we must engage, and many paths through which we must explore ethical, spiritual, and global solutions to the challenges of globalisation.

Globalisation for the Common Good

The 6th Annual International Conference

“A Non-violent Path to Conflict Resolution and Peacebuilding”

Istanbul: The City of Understanding and Reconciliation between East and West

5-9 July 2007 – Istanbul, Turkey

Today, in a time of marvelous scientific and technical advance, there is unprecedented, ubiquitous, and seemingly unending violence and wanton destruction. While many people enjoy the benefits of global commerce and trade, others have lost trust in the institutions, leaders, and policies that determine their lives, sending them to battlefields for no apparent reason, without vision or mission. And as world leaders make an ideological push to impose democracy abroad, the masses of the world are longing for a spiritual revolution and the widespread adoption of non-violence, inner wisdom, and human virtue to halt the escalating conflict and to build a world that is just, free, and prosperous for all. Given the unprecedented need to address issues of violence, war and peace, human rights, and social justice, there are many questions we must ask ourselves, many debates in which we must engage, and many paths through which we must explore ethical, spiritual, and global solutions to the challenges of globalisation.

Globalisation for the Common Good is calling for papers for its sixth annual conference at Fatih University, Istanbul, Turkey, 5-9 July, 2007. We seek papers that explore the contributions of various spiritual and ethical perspectives on peace and justice, education for global peace and non-violent conflict resolution, and other political, economic, social, cultural, and spiritual themes pertaining to the theme of globalisation for the common good. Please submit your abstract and join us for this timely international conference in Istanbul, the venerable and inspirational capital at the crossroads of East and West.

We also invite observers and delegates to join us at our conference in Istanbul. It is great and for the common good, for academics and non-academics to get involved and engaged with one another, so that we can all share each other’s varied experiences.
