Soil Science Conference of Malaysia 2007
This conference provides an ideal platform to all involved in agriculture to meet and present their latest research findings, exchange ideas and share experiences on soil science and crop production.
The Malaysian Society of Soil Science (MSSS) and Department of Agriculture Sarawak (DOA) in collaboration with the Incorporated Society of Planters (ISP) will hold the SOILS 2007 Conference in conjunction with MSSS Annual General Meeting on April 17-18, 2007 in Mukah, Sarawak.
The theme of the conference is SOIL RESOURCES AND CROP PRODUCTION. In rain-fed agriculture on tropical soils, crop production is commonly limited by soil resources. A good understanding and proper management of soil resources is of utmost importance to optimize crop production, minimize production costs and maintaining or enhancing soil resources for future generations, which should lead to sustainable agriculture and forestry.
A special half-day or one-day seminar will be organized on oil palm cultivation on deep tropical peat to foster closer relationship between soil scientists and planters.
