Throughout its 37-year history, IDRC has devoted itself to the creation of knowledge to bring about positive change in some of the world’s poorest countries. In carrying out this mission, IDRC provides funds and expert advice to developing-country researchers working to solve critical development problems.
IDRC continues to recognize the fundamental importance of information, and knowledge, for development. By helping to organize this workshop, the Centre will bring together individuals and organizations that generate, publish, and use information for development to discuss the questions listed above. The agenda of the workshop will parallel the information continuum, from creation to application, with presentations and discussion from research specialists, publishers, librarians, and civil society.
The workshop is intended for NGO managers, resource centre organizers, librarians, academics, students, and representatives from research organizations, advocacy organizations, community development organizations, and networks. Admission is free, display space is available, and registered participants will be granted free admission to the Cape Town International Book Fair at the conclusion of the workshop.
