Conference on Forestry and Forest Products Research 2007 (CFFPR 2007)
A national conference organized by FRIM and MWPA to introduce the latest R&D findings in forestry and forest products. The theme is "Balancing Economic and Ecological Needs”
The biennial national Conference on Forestry and Forest Products Research (CFFPR) is designed to introduce the latest R&D findings in forestry and forest products to the private sector, researchers, academicians, forest managers, industrialists, and policy makers. The theme of this Conference will be ‘‘Balancing Economic and Ecological Needs’’.
Discussions will cover issues pertaining to conservation of biodiversity, forest ecology, forest plantations,
applied biotechnology in forestry, eco-tourism, medicinal products from plant material, gaharu, improved processing and utilization of wood and non-wood products. Interrelated issues such as socio economics aspects, environmental issues, Clean Development Mechanism, trade barriers, waste to wealth, forest and product certification schemes and others will also be highlighted.
This Conference is aimed at bringing all these issues into discussion, in the hope of striking a balance in the needs for conservation and development of forest, a national heritage in this country. This year, dedicated sessions to discuss specific issues requested by industries/trade associations are being arranged.
OBJECTIVES
• To discuss issues in tropical forestry research and development;
• To explore, exchange and update scientific and technological findings and information related to
tropical forestry; and
• To provide a forum for forestry researchers to present their results and findings, state-of-the-art
technologies, products and services.
