Meet companies from Europe, Thailand and Malaysia!
According to the WHO noncommunicable diseases (NCD) are meanwhile overriding communicable diseases (CD) and double the burden of diseases in many growth and developing countries. Also the population continues to age and the changes in the lifestyles such as reduced physical activity, unbalanced diets and increased tobacco abuse are drivers for this development. These changes concern adults as well as children and force the governments in Asia to develop new concepts to adjust the healthcare structures and encourage its people to lead healthier lifestyles.
This project provides the basic knowledge and the necessary business contacts for companies, organizations and related associations to start and run inter-sector prevention and care projects for such diseases. They will gain exposure to existing EU products and service models in order to promote future developments in their respective countries.
The Business Potential
Investments in healthcare are growing in Asia as well as the population. The latter will expand from 3.2 billion in 2002 to 5.6 billion in 2050 (60% of the world's population). The World Health Organization (WHO) expects nations to invest about 5% of GDP in their healthcare systems. In addition consumer expenditure on healthcare services is expected to double from US$90 billion in 1999 to US$188 billion in 2013. About 4.8 million Asian households earn above US$5.000 per annum and they can afford premium healthcare services. It is projected that this group will grow by about 3-5% in South-East Asia in the medium term.
Successful long-term solutions in the prevention and care of the named diseases depend on the interaction of various disciplines, technologies and service providers. We invite primarily SMEs with an offering in the categories mentioned below and business interests in the prevention and care of lifestyle related NCD in South-East-Asia to join the conference.
