3rd International Conference on Gross National Happiness

NongKhai/ Bangkok, Thailand - The major aim of the Conference is to provide a platform for creative exchanges and multi-stakeholder dialogue towards re-thinking development.

The major aim of the 3rd International Conference on Gross National Happiness is to provide a platform for creative exchanges and multi-stakeholder dialogue towards re-thinking development. Concepts of development are part of our world views. Reflections on current scientific and professional paradigms may lead to guidelines for global transformation.

All creative thinkers, activists, community leaders, government officials and policy makers; academics, students, business leaders and managers; artists and persons of good faith come together to engage in a joint effort to understand happiness as a public good, how individual or collective happiness research deepens the meaning of life, and how we can work together and educate ourselves towards sustainable living.

The conference on Gross National Happiness in Thailand offers an opportunity to articulate Asian world views towards transformation in a 'message to the world'. And to exchange views with visionary thinkers and activists from all over the world.

Gross National Happiness is evolving as an inspiring set of principles for policy development. The core elements ~ without promoting them as a dogma ~ have been identified as the Four Pillars of GNH.

The conference will be held at two locations: in rural Thailand, Nongkhai; and the other location in Bangkok. There will be one day for travelling from Nongkhai to Bangkok. Nongkhai borders the Mekong River near the 'Friendship Bridge' between Thailand and Laos. In Nongkhai conference participants will join the local Loy Krathong Festival, Saturday 24th November. Loy Krathong is celebrated during the full moon in November.
