PIPOC 2007 International Palm Oil Congress

The Malaysian Palm Oil Board (MPOB) will be organising PIPOC 2007 (International Palm Oil Congress organized by MPOB), the foremost oil palm/palm oil conference in the world. The theme this year is “Palm Oil: Empowering Change”. As the Congress is only held biennially we envisage considerable progress to report.

The last two years have seen significant developments for agriculture in the world and in particular the demand for biofuel has caused soaring prices for vegetable oils as well as starting the food vs. fuel debate.

OBJECTIVES

* To discuss strategic R&D findings in all facets of the oil palm and palm oil industry;
* To capitalize on recent technology findings that will bring about changes to the oil palm/ palm oil industry; and
* To draw up strategies towards enhanced sustainability, competitiveness, automation, policy on chemical trade, market trends and trade challenges.
