15th Commonwealth Law Conference

Nairobi, Kenya - The theme of the 2007 Conference - Governance, Globalization and the Commonwealth will embrace many of the current issues facing today’s Commonwealth lawyers and the communities which they serve.

The Law Society of Kenya and the Commonwealth Lawyers Association warmly invite you to attend their first conference in Nairobi and only the second ever to be held in Africa in the history of Commonwealth law conferencing.

Over 2,000 lawyers representing all 53 Commonwealth countries are expected to attend this prestigious event.

For the first time in over a quarter of a century, a Commonwealth Law Conference will be held in Africa. An expected 2000 lawyers and their family members from around the world will receive a warm Kenyan welcome when they attend the 15th Commonwealth Law Conference in Nairobi, Kenya in September 2007.

The theme of the 2007 Conference - Governance, Globalization and the Commonwealth will embrace many of the current issues facing today’s Commonwealth lawyers and the communities which they serve. The programme will feature a blend of these challenging issues - human rights, globalisation, corruption, HIV/AIDS, dispute resolution, the intersection of state and religious laws, discrimination and access to justice, to name but a few. A comprehensive programme of social and networking events has been designed to ensure that all who attend the Conference will enjoy the unique experience and atmosphere of one of Africa’s most vibrant cities, rich in culture and history, and populated by some of the friendliest and most welcoming people on the planet. A comprehensive programme of pre- and post-Conference tours and safaris will offer the opportunity to see even more of what this beautiful and fascinating part of the world has to offer. Having already personally experienced the enthusiasm, energy and warmth of reception that will await each and every person who attends the Conference, I encourage you to become part of that experience too.

Since the first Commonwealth Law Conference in 1955, Commonwealth Law Conferences have become established as one of the very best international legal events. All branches of the legal profession - judges, magistrates, public and private sector lawyers, academics, paralegals and executives of the Commonwealth’s law associations - meet to discuss vital issues affecting the Commonwealth’s law and its legal profession. All will be enriched by the opportunity to learn from each other and to share experiences.
