As part of the UP Vargas Museum's 20th anniversary celebration with the theme Color in Philippine Art, the UPVM features Excavating Bridges for Future Streams , an exhibition of the works of Australian artist Sean James Cassidy as inspired by the Sagada landscapes in the Cordillera region and the craftsmanship of its people. Cassidy is currently on a study tour in the Philippines as a cultural exchange student of the University of the Philippines. During his stay in Sagada, Cassidy has worked with several artisans, whose ancient skills and new techniques he has woven into his own paintings. Works of three potters and a basket weaver from the Sagada and Kalinga districts are displayed alongside Cassidy's abstractions in oil to document the universal heritage of human beings as manifested by common symbols and patterns.
