The SciEd Asia-Pacific 2007

Bangkok, Thailand - This is the first international conference on science education initiated by FASAS, AASA and IAP to provide an excellent opportunity for teachers, researchers and professionals in the fields of science.

The SciEd Asia-Pacific 2007 is the first international conference on science education initiated by FASAS, AASA and IAP to provide an excellent opportunity for teachers, researchers and professionals in the fields of science (biology, chemistry, physics, mathematics and related topics) from schools to universities and research institutions as well as publishers and companies to exchange experiences, visions and knowledge and to strengthen links, as well as, to be updated on recent progress and future perspectives in the relevant fields at an international level.
International links, especially among the Asia-Pacific countries, are expected to carry on the vision and mission drawn from the conference.

Plenary and keynote speakers include one of the most distinguished astronauts, Dr. Mamoru Mohri from National Museum of Emerging Science and Innovation, Japan; professional development leader from National Science Learning Center, UK, Dr. Andrea Mapplebeck; the former president of Chulalongkorn University and present chairman of the Chulalongkorn University Council, Dr.Charas Suwanwela; the immediate past president of FASAS, Dr.Tan Wee Hin Leo, Singapore; director of regional office for Asia and the Pacific International Council for Science, Emeritus Prof. Mohd Nordin Hasan, Malaysia and coordinator of the Science Education Program of IAP, Prof. Jorge E. Allende and other reputable speakers from overseas and Thailand.

The papers invited for this conference will cover a wide range of issues related to the following topics:

• Best Practices in Science and Mathematics Education

• Innovations in Science and Mathematics Teacher Education & Professional Development

• Roles of Science Academies and Societies in Science Education

The contributing paper may cover presentation and discussion on the implementation and teaching idea of each topic as well as the development of associated tools, methods. It may involve the theoretical and experimental research, case studies as well as policy and planning.

Post-conference Workshops at will be arranged during November 30 - December 1, 2007
