2nd USM Penang International Postgraduate Convention 2008 (USM PIPgC)
The 2nd USM Penang International Postgraduate Convention 2008 will be held from the 18 - 20 June 2008 at Universiti Sains Malaysia. Postgraduate students and researchers are invited to attend. Early bird registration ends on 15 May 2008.

It is our great pleasure to announce that the 2nd USM Penang International Postgraduate Convention 2008 (USM PIPgC 2008) organized by Universiti Sains Malaysia, Penang, Malaysia will be held from the 18 - 20 June 2008 at Universiti Sains Malaysia.
The 2nd USM PIPgC will have four main conferences, they are:-
1. Health and Medical Sciences Conference (HMSC)
2. Life Sciences Postgraduate Conference (LSPC)
3. Penang International Conference for Young Chemists (Penang ICYC)
4. International Conference on Social Sciences and Humanities (ICoSSH)
This convention will follow a common program which consist of oral and poster presentations of research findings. Additionally, prominent researcher in their respective fields will be invited to give plenary lectures to inspire and share their knowledge with the younger generation of upcoming researchers. Industry players will also be involved by exhibiting their products and in conducting pre-conference workshops and seminars.
The keynote speakers for 2nd USM PIPgC are:-
1. The Hon. Prof. Dato' Dr. Liew Choong-Chin
Chief Scientist, GeneNews Limited, Toronto, Canada
Visiting Professor, Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Harvard Medical School, Boston, U.S.A.
2. The Hon. Tan Sri Emeritus Prof. Datuk Dr. Ong Soon Hock
Founder president of the Malaysian Invention and Design Society (MINDS),
President for Malaysian Oil Scientists and Technologists’ Association (MOSTA),
President for Malaysia Senior Scientists Association (MSSA) and Advisor for
Confederation of Scientific and Technology Associations in Malaysia (COSTAM).
3. Prof. Maqsudul Alam,
Department of Microbiology, University of Hawaii
On the whole, the launching of the 2nd USM PIPgC 2008 is expected to expose young Malaysian Scientist to world class research in this era of globalization, in line with our Prime Minister's vision to lead Malaysia towards greater heights in the eyes of the world. The 2nd USM PIPgC is hoped to contribute toward the assimilation of young researchers form various field of research and generate fresh, practical ideas for future research.
