Physical education Conference 2008

Serdang, Malaysia - t is the intention of this conference to raise the profile of physical education in the hope of changing the views of many that physical education is not just about getting children’s to move about.

Physical education is a vital element in a comprehensive, well-balanced curriculum and can be a major contributing factor in the development of an individual in all aspects of life: physical, emotional, mental and social. Today, in Malaysia, physical education is regarded second to other subjects in school especially examination papers. It is the intention of this conference to raise the profile of physical education in the hope of changing the views of many that physical education is not just about getting children’s to move about. But rather a well designed curriculum could really engage pupils in active learning experience through the medium of activity and sports as well as develop capacities and values that allow all to participate in lifelong physical activity. Research findings may give an insight to the ever evolving trend in teaching and learning of physical education. With this in mind, Faculty of Educational Studies, Universiti Putra Malaysia initiated and organized this long awaited conference to share experiences and research findings for the betterment of Physical Education in future.
