The India Lectures: Renowned Economist Suman K. Bery on the Indian Economy, the Global Financial System, and the G20

Suman K. Bery is Director General of India’s National Council of Applied Economic Research (NCAER), one of the country’s most distinguished non-profit independent economic research organizations and a long-standing IDRC partner. In this capacity, Mr. Bery also serves as an advisor to the country’s official, financial and business communities and is a respected commentator and columnist on Indian economic issues.

Prior to assuming the leadership of NCAER, Mr. Bery was Lead Economist for Brazil at the World Bank in Washington, D.C. From 1992 to 1994, he was Special Consultant to the Governor of the Reserve Bank of India, based in Mumbai.
Bery received an undergraduate degree in Politics, Philosophy and Economics (PPE) from Oxford University. He carried out his graduate work at the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs at Princeton University, from which he holds a Master of Public and International Affairs.

In his presentation “India, Global Finance and the G-20: What lessons, what agenda?” Bery will discuss India’s economic growth and resiliency in the context of the world economy.
