2010 RIKEN Conference on Soft Materials & Interfaces January 11 to 14, 2010 in Harima Institute, SPring-8, Japan
The objective of the RIKEN Conference is to advance the physical, chemical, biological, medical, and engineering sciences and to promote practical application in these disciplines, as well as to provide an international interdisciplinary forum for discussion among scientists.
The title for this year is Soft Materials & Interfaces, which includes the following topics: Soft and Wet Materials, Organic Materials, Smart Materials, Ecomaterials, Energy Conversion Materials, Supramolecular Materials, Microfluidics and Interfaces, and Biomaterials.
Another objective is to showcase RIKEN's SPring-8 (acronym for "Super Photon ring-8 GeV"), a world-leading research facility with the most powerful synchrotron radiation (SR) facility and the XFEL (X-ray Free Electron Laser), a new light source for the next generation of SR.
The facilities are used for cutting-edge research programs in a wide variety of scientific fields, not only in structural biology for analysis of high-order structures in proteins, but also in materials science, and to serve as an inspiration for leading-edge science. All scientists who are interested in the conference topics are invited to attend.
