This is a unique conference which is organised by postgraduate students of Universiti Sains Malaysia. It enables all postgraduate conferences to converge and be held concurrently. The inaugural Penang International Postgraduate Convention will take place with the following conferences:

1st Penang International Conference for Young Chemists

The theme of the convention is, 'Innovating research through scientific and technological interchanges’, the convention aims to provide postgraduate students from this region and throughout the world the opportunity to meet, share, and exchange ideas about research and science in general.

Keynote Speakers

Professor Dr. Ariff Bongso from National University of Singapore will speak on e 'Stem Cells: Medicine's New Frontier'
Assoc. Professor Tengku Sifzizul Tengku Muhammad from Universiti Sains Malaysia will speak on 'Control of gene transcription during disease development'
Professor Lee Soo Ying from Nanyang Technological University will speak on 'Spectroscopy From Non-Stationary States'

1st Health and Medical Science Postgraduate Conference

Clear communication through effective publications is the most meaningful and significant way to communicate the results of a research through publication in peer reviewed journals, proceedings of symposia and books. Participation among students provide an opportunity to present their research results in a professional setting, similar to what is being done at discipline-specific conferences.

Knowing the importance of scientific publication in Health and Medical Sciences, the Postgraduate Student Association (PSA) of the USM Health Campus organized the 1st Health and Medical Sciences Conference (HSMC), with the theme 'Health and Medical Sciences: Excellence Through Leadership and innovation'.

3rd Life Sciences Postgraduate Conference

Life sciences are an essential rudimentary field in the sciences apart from Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics. It has been sustained by rapid advances in technology over the years. Researchers, especially the ‘greener’ generations always need to keep up with the latest discoveries and it is palpable that ample exposure and infinite knowledge exchange are vital in nurturing our young scientists.

Now, in the year 2006, this conference will be held for the third time with the theme, 'Life Sciences: Moving in Synchrony with the Changes in the World'. This time, however, there are a couple of interesting new additions. Based on the overwhelming support we received in the past, the organising committee has decided on expanding its scale to include two other faculties; the School of Industrial Technology and the School of Pharmacy, which means that more research fields involved. Besides that, invitation is also now extended to young researchers from all over the world.

1st Penang International Conference for Young Chemists

With the theme 'Blazing a New Frontier in Chemical Sciences', the Penang ICYC 2006 is a conference for young chemists, organized by postgraduate students of the School of Chemical Sciences, Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), Penang, Malaysia. This conference is being held for the 3rd time. The first and second conferences were of regional scale, with participants from the IMT-GT (Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand) region, Singapore, the Philippines, India and Japan. Following the overwhelming response from the previous two conferences, the organizing committee has decided to open the participation of this conference to include young international researchers.
