2nd International Conference on Alfred Russel Wallace

"Alfred Russel Wallace- His Predecessors and Successors. Naturalists, Explorers and Field Scientists in South-east Asia and Australasia. An International Conference"

The conference aims to bring together historians, natural scientists, ecologists, zoologists, botanists, palaeontologists, anthropologists, geologists, park managers, and other scholars of the natural sciences to share their experiences on ecology, evolution and resource management of the region.

We hope to welcome around 250 participants.

Earl of Cranbrook, Great Glemham Farm, UK
Prof. Emeritus Yong Hoi Sen, Academy of Sciences Malaysia
Prof. Charles H. Smith, Department of Library Public Services, Western Kentucky University
Mr. Paul Spencer Sochaczewski, natural historian and Wallace scholar

The Conference will be held at the Riverside Majestic Hotel in Kuching, the capital of the state of Sarawak, in Malaysia. Kuching is located on the island of Borneo, and connected to Kuala Lumpur, Miri, Kota Kinabalu (and several other Malaysian cities), as well as Singapore, Hong Kong, Perth and Frankfurt, via regular flights.

Kuching, due to its position (2 degrees north of the Equator) enjoys an equatorial climate, the temperature range 23–32°C. In November, the weather is expected to be warm and dry. However, depending on locality, humidity may be high, ranging from 85% to 95% annually.
