DGIST to Showcase Three Future Strategic Areas at FIX 2025

- Highlight physical AI, human digital twins, and quantum sensing - Share innovation competencies through research exhibitions, technical consultations, and industry collaboration

□ Daegu Gyeongbuk Institute of Science & Technology (DGIST; President Kunwoo Lee) will showcase three future strategic areas at Future Innovation Tech Expo (FIX) 2025, including (i) physical AI, (ii) human digital twins, and (iii) quantum sensing, which serve as DGIST’s flagship research areas.

□ DGIST has operated the Future Strategic Area Discovery Committee for approximately one year and selected the three areas after comprehensively reviewing domestic and international technology trends, institutional infrastructure, and the potential for connections with local industries. At this exhibition, DGIST will share its vision as a university leading future innovation.

□ This exhibition will also showcase DGIST’s key research achievements and successful startups. The exhibition includes nature-mimicking robotics and mobility technologies from the Department of Robotics and Mechatronics Engineering, a THz non-destructive testing system and edge device image analysis system from the Division of Automotive Technology, an eight-inch MEMS foundry (D-FAB) model and sensor device wafer from the Sensorium Institute, and a multi-project wafer from the Institute of Next-Generation Semiconductor Convergence Technology. Moreover, startups such as Team Robotics, NSIDE, and UNIVA will showcase their wearable robots, vocal cord disease diagnostics, and AI training data solutions and demonstrate the commercialization potential of their research findings.

□ During this event, an online technical consultation session will be held with companies to provide tailored consultations on technology transfer, research equipment utilization, and startup support. In addition, DGIST will introduce the three future strategic areas and its world university rankings to expand communication with visitors.

□ “It is very meaningful to share the future strategic areas that DGIST focuses on with industries in Korea and around the world at FIX 2025,” said President Kunwoo Lee. “By positioning ourselves as a hub for innovation, which includes not only research and development but also human resources development, technology commercialization, and the industrial ecosystem, we will become a global research hub representing Daegu and Korea.”

□ FIX 2025 is a global innovation exhibition organized by Daegu Metropolitan City and is referred to as the “Korean version of the Consumer Electronics Show (CES)” as it serves as an opportunity to check out the latest technologies and new industry trends at a glance. At this exhibition, DGIST will also introduce its future vision, including regional innovation hubs, global campuses, and urban air mobility pilot projects, and reinforce its collaborative network with industries.
