Dr. Jinhyo Joseph Yun of DGIST Delivers Keynote Speech at International Conference (FEMIB) in Portugal

- Discussing the future of capitalism in the era of digital transformation

□ On April 5, Dr. Jinhyo Joseph Yun, Principal Researcher in the Division of AI, Big Data, and Blockchain at DGIST (President Kunwoo Lee), delivered a keynote speech at the FEMIB (Finance, Economics, Management, and IT Business) conference held in Porto, Portugal. FEMIB is a prestigious international conference in the fields of economics, management, and IT business. At the conference, Dr. Yun’s insights into digital transformation and changes in economic systems received notable attention.

□ Dr. Yun delivered a presentation titled Post-Capitalism with Digital Transformation, which explored how digital technologies are reshaping the existing structure of capitalism. Furthermore, based on international collaborative research with scholars from Europe and Asia, he proposed three key directions for the future.

□ First, he emphasized that regulatory transformation is more important than mere deregulation. Since uncertainty is high in emerging industries, such as AI and telemedicine, designing tailored regulations can, in fact, help stimulate the market.

□ Second, he proposed digital commons as a core element of a new capitalism model. Platform-based knowledge sharing and the potential introduction of digital basic income offer important insights for redesigning the current income distribution structures.

□ Third, he also highlighted that innovation in business models, rather than technology itself, is the decisive factor for industrial growth. The business model design methodology developed by Dr. Yun is currently being applied at over 100 universities and companies both domestically and internationally.

□ Following his keynote speech at FEMIB, Dr. Yun will deliver follow-up presentations at the University of Naples in Italy and the Silesian University of Technology in Poland on April 8 and 14, respectively. His speech on digital transformation and the future of capitalism served as a meaningful demonstration of the global academic leadership of Korean researchers.
