Finnish Ambassador Visits DGIST to Discuss Cooperation in Science, Technology, and Education

□ DGIST (President Kunwoo Lee) announced that Finland’s Ambassador to Korea, Jyri Järviaho. visited its campus on Wednesday, July 2. The visit was arranged to discuss ways to expand exchanges and explore practical cooperation in science, technology, and higher education.

 

□ Since his appointment as Finland’s Ambassador to Korea in 2024, Jyri Järviaho has focused on strengthening cooperation between the two countries’ innovation ecosystems by visiting major science and technology institutions across Korea. Recently, he has been leading efforts to expand joint research and talent exchange through engagement with leading universities and research institutes, including Seoul National University and KAIST.

 

□ At DGIST, he met with key officials to discuss various avenues for collaboration, including partnership with major Finnish universities and institutes, exchanges of students and researchers, and joint research and development initiatives. He also toured DGIST’s research facilities to gain a deeper understanding of its educational and research infrastructure.

 

□ A DGIST official stated, “This visit will serve as an opportunity to continue close cooperation with the Finnish Embassy and further enhance our global innovation network. We look forward to making tangible contributions to the advancement of science and technology and talent development in both countries.”
