The Research Center of Communication and Development Knowledge Management (CCDKM)

The Research Center of Communication and Development Knowledge Management (CCDKM) and the Asia-Pacific Telecentre Network (APTN), under the umbrella of Sukhothai Thammathirat Open University, Thailand, are committed to increasing the social and economic impact of information and communication technologies (ICT) at the grassroots and in marginalized communities in Thailand and the ASEAN region. Working with numerous partners, including governments, intergovernmental organizations, UN agencies, Microsoft, Intel, Foundations, NGOs, CSOs and the private sector, CCDKM promotes media development in the region and e-learning initiatives to advance the sustainable development of disadvantaged communities.

Successful e-learning projects initiated in partnership with Thai Telecentre and the Ministry of Information and Communication Technology (MICT) include: telecentre management, community English, community financial literacy, women literacy, digital literacy, local wisdom utilization and preservation, advertising and public relations, e-commerce solutions, e-community tourism, e-governance, e-agriculture, rural innovation, community social enterprise, e-courses designed for handicapped groups, media and information literacy, among others. All courses are approved by the MICT and the Ministry of Education.

Since the Research Center’s establishment in 2006, thousands of trainers and more than a hundred thousand marginalize people in the region, particularly in Thailand, have been trained using the telecentres situated all over the country as empowering knowledge hubs.
