International Workshop on Carbon Capture and Storage in the Power Sector: R&D Priorities for India

The workshop will examine the opportunities for Carbon Capture Storage(CCS) and issues regarding its deployment.

The workshop will examine the opportunities for Carbon Capture Storage(CCS) and issues regarding its deployment and will bring together international and Indian experts already working in areas including Power plant efficiency, Carbon Capture Technologies, Transport, storage and monitoring of carbon dioxide and Regulatory, legal, economic, safety, environmental and financial issues.

Workshop Objectives:
1a) Update on status of elements of carbon, capture and storage, both internationally and in India
1b) To update on plans to demonstrate CCS with fossil fuel power generation
2) To identify gaps in activity
3) To facilitate the development of further UK-Indo collaboration projects

Sponsors: UK Department for Environment and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) and the British High Commission (New Delhi) , held in partnership with the Department of Science and Technology (Ministry of Science and Technology) and the Planning Commission. The event has been facilitated by Integrated Research and Action for Development (IRADe).
