2008 Association of Southease Asian Institutions of Higher Learning (ASAIHL) Conference on University Autonomy: Interpretations and Variations

USM, Penang, Malaysia - The main objective of this conference is to provide a forum for higher education institutions and educators to present researches and to exchange views on University Autonomy, especially in the different interpretations of the meaning of University Autonomy and the various different ways of achieving autonomy.

Introduction
ASAIHL and Universiti Sains Malaysia would like to invite higher education institutions to participate in the 2008 ASAIHL Conference on University Autonomy: Interpretations and Variations.

Objectives

The main objective of this conference is to provide a forum for higher education institutions and educators to present researches and to exchange views on University Autonomy, especially in the different interpretations of the meaning of University Autonomy and the various different ways of achieving autonomy. In addition, this conference also hopes to promote perspective of the private sectors towards University autonomy and how it will enhance and further encourage collaboration between public and private universities and also that of the industries.

Submission of Abstracts and Full Papers

Deadlines:

October 5, 2008 Submission of abstract for paper presentation and country report. to the conference secretariat either as attachments of an email or on-line at www.usm.my/asaihl2008.

November 5, 2008 Submission of full papers and country reports.

Please submit the abstracts and full papers to the conference secretariat either as attachments of an email or on-line at
www.usm.my/asaihl2008. Accepted abstracts will be notified by October 25, 2008.

Requirements for both abstracts and full papers:

•MS Words document with these properties:
•Font: Arial 12 points
•1 inch margin on all sides on standard A4 sized paper
•Single spacing
•Abstracts must not exceed one page
•Full papers are within the range of 15-20 pages.

Abstracts and Full Papers must include the following details:

•Keywords describing the paper
•Title of the paper
•Name of author(s) and affiliation
•Complete address inclusive of e-mail address, phone and fax numbers of the author(s) to whom the subsequent correspondence should be directed to

returned to the Conference Secretariat Office via fax before October 30, 2008.
