BioMalaysia is Malaysia’s premier and largest biotechnology conference and exhibition. Held annually, this significant event attracts the best of Malaysian and global biotechnology participants.

BioMalaysia 2008 is set to surpass the success of BioMalaysia 2007, which broke all previous records with over 7,800 participants including 60 biotechnology experts from 30 countries speaking at the conference, 1,100 conference participants, 85 international and local exhibitors, and 6,555 trade visitors.

BioMalaysia 2008 will take you closer to achieving your scientific and business objectives in biotechnology and provides access to one of the fastest growing biotechnology markets in the region. Since the launch of the National Biotechnology Policy and the establishment of BiotechCorp as the leading development agency for biotechnology in 2005, the Malaysian biotechnology industry is on a fast track towards commercialisation in 2011.

The theme for BioMalaysia 2008 is “Strengthening Value Creation in Biotechnology”. Value creation in biotechnology underscores the escalation of science to market – including opportunities in discovery, new technology, funding, entrepreneurship and in building the biotechnology business.

The biotechnology industry in Malaysia has grown immensely since 2005. To date, there are 71 BioNexus companies with total approved investment of RM1.3billion. By the end of 2008, the number of BioNexus companies is expected to increase to 120. The breadth and depth of BioNexus companies’ activities range from bioinformatics, nutraceuticals, diagnostics, enzymes, catalysts, plant and animal technology, molecular, tissue, cell and stemcell engineering.

There is also a wealth of untapped scientific resources and human capital in Malaysia’s universities and research institutions – some with over 10 years of track record in life sciences and biotechnology.

With strengthening fundamentals in Malaysian biotechnology, the BioMalaysia 2008 Exhibition is expected to gather more than 8,500 visitors and 150 exhibitors from Malaysia and around the world. This provides an outstanding opportunity for exhibitors to strengthen business networking and prominently feature products and services to a global audience.
