Northern Region Symposium on Languages

Language teaching and learning is becoming increasingly demanding which calls for all concerned to reflect on the effectiveness of such practices. The Language Center at Universiti Utara Malaysia invites you to its first Northern Region Symposium on Languages to share ideas and insights into the language teaching and learning
practices in today’s world. Knowledge and skills in second and foreign languages are essential in everyday communication, particularly in a multicultural society.

We, therefore, welcome you to contribute fully to this discussion in an ongoing effort to produce good teachers and learners.

Objectives
I. To provide an avenue for all concerned to discuss and exchange viewpoints on the strategies and effectiveness of teaching and learning languages.
II. To encourage research on the latest and effective strategies in language teaching and learning.

Registration fee
• Early bird presenters and participants registering by 25 November 2008 : RM350.00
• Presenters and participants registering after 25 November 2008: RM450.00
• Students: RM200.00

Fee includes symposium kit, lunches and tea, certificate of participation.

Abstract to be included in the paper should not be more than 200 words (MS Word, Times New Roman, font size 12)

Important Dates
• Deadline for full paper submission: 15 November 2008
• Notification of full paper acceptance: 25 November 2008
• Deadline for registration for presenters: 25 November 2008

Papers submitted before 25 November will be included in the proceedings.
