Conference on Efficient Energy Management in Residential Sector Practice, Policy and Prospects

Samadhan Foundation is organizing a conference, on the topic Efficient Energy Management in Residential Sector Practice, Policy and Prospects on October 6 Saturday, 2012, to deliberate upon various aspects related to efficient energy management in residential sector and equity in the power distribution.

Access to energy is a basic human right. By denying access to electric power to 300 million Indians, they are being deprived of several opportunities and their chance to move ahead with others in the information and communications technology era. What is needed is equity in the energy distribution in such a way that, available supply is distributed in a fair manner, without discriminating anyone. While supply side issues have to be addressed by the State by formulating appropriate policies and by way of investment facilitation, there is an urgent need to look at strategies for better demand side management.

The conference would deliberate upon probable policy interventions and strategies that could be adopted so that tangible results can be achieved in better demand side management. Suggestions and recommendations that would emerge will be circulated among policy making circles such as parliamentarians, ministry officials, and concerned departments and to the media for facilitating policy intervention, awareness and to generate public debate.
